Badges
Design visitor badges for each visitor type, choose what prints, and reprint a badge when one is lost.
Agoo is in early access. This page describes the feature as it ships to early-access organisations; screens are illustrative.
A badge tells everyone in the building who a visitor is, whom they're with and how long they're allowed to stay. Agoo prints one on a label printer when the visitor checks in. Badge printing is included on Growth, Pro and Enterprise, and ships in P8.
What's on a badge
| Element | Notes |
|---|---|
| Visitor type band | A coloured strip and label ("VISITOR", "CONTRACTOR", "INTERVIEW"), so staff can tell at a glance. |
| Photo | Taken at check-in, if the visitor type captures one. |
| Name and company | "Ama Owusu, Coastline Consult". |
| Host | "Kwame Mensah". |
| Valid | When and where: "Today · Level 4", or the date range for a multi-day pass. |
| QR code | Scanned at the exit or by a guard to check the visitor out. |
| Badge code | A short code such as AG7K-2Q9M, for finding the visit if the QR code is damaged. |
| Your logo | From your branding. |
Badges never show a visitor's phone number or ID number.
Design your badges
Open the badge designer
Go to Console → Settings → Branding → Badge.
Choose a label size
Pick the size that matches the labels in your printer. The common sizes are listed in Badge printers. Agoo lays the badge out for that size.
Choose what appears
Turn elements on or off and pick a colour for each visitor type. Make contractors and visitors who need an escort clearly different. The preview shows a real example as you go.
Print a test
Select Print test badge and choose a printer. Check it on the label: photo quality, text size, and whether the QR code scans from a guard's phone.
You can use one design for every visitor type, or a different one per type, for example a larger badge for contractors with their permitted zones.
When badges print
A badge prints at the kiosk's printer when the visitor is checked in. If the host must approve first, it prints once they approve, so nobody wears a badge before they're let in. Visitors checked in at the front desk get their badge from the desk's printer.
Without a printer, or on Free and Starter, the kiosk shows the badge on screen at check-in, and invited guests can show the pass on their phone to a guard instead.
Reprint a badge
When a badge didn't print, printed badly or was lost:
- Open the visit in Console → Visitors → On site.
- Select Print badge and choose the printer.
Reprints are recorded on the visit's timeline. Visitors can't reprint a badge at the kiosk themselves, so spare badges don't end up in the wrong hands.
Badges after the visit
When a visitor checks out, the QR code on their badge stops working. Ask guards to collect badges at the exit, and shred or bin them so names and photos don't leave the building.
Contractors
Keep contractor companies, workers and their documents in one place, run inductions before they arrive, issue multi-day passes and track hours on site.
Booking pages
Give each host, team, department or site a booking page, so customers, parents, patients and partners pick a time without the back-and-forth.
