Shifts and overtime
Set shift patterns, grace periods, breaks and overtime rules so Agoo can flag lateness and count extra hours.
Agoo is in early access. This page describes the feature as it ships to early-access organisations; screens are illustrative.
Without shifts, Agoo records when people clock in and out. With shifts, it also knows when they were due, so it can flag late arrivals, early departures and missed days, and count overtime. Shifts and overtime are included on Growth, Pro and Enterprise.
Key terms
| Term | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Shift | A start and end time at a site, such as 8:00 am – 5:00 pm at Ridge HQ |
| Pattern | How shifts repeat: the same hours every weekday, or a rotation such as two days, two nights, two off |
| Roster | Who works which shift on which day, per site and team |
| Grace period | Minutes after the start time before someone counts as late |
| Break | Paid or unpaid time inside a shift, fixed or clocked |
| Overtime rule | When hours count as overtime, for example after 8 hours in a day, on a rest day or on a public holiday |
Set up shifts
Create shift types
In Console → Attendance → Shifts, add each shift you run, with its site, start and end times, breaks and grace period. Overnight shifts that end the next morning are fine.
Build a pattern or roster
Give a team a fixed pattern, such as Monday to Friday on the day shift, or a rotation. For irregular work, assign shifts day by day on the roster.
Add overtime and lateness rules
Choose when overtime starts and how early departures are treated. Ghana public holidays are loaded for you, so holiday working can follow its own rule.
Publish
Employees see their shifts in the Workspace app. From the next shift, Agoo flags late arrivals as the shift starts and absences once it's clear someone hasn't come in.
What managers see
- Late, early and absent flags on the attendance board as they happen, not at the end of the month.
- Overtime hours per person and period, ready to approve on the timesheet.
- Missed clock-outs, so you can correct them before payroll.
Managers can correct a punch, for example when someone forgot to clock out. Every correction keeps the original, records who changed it and why, and appears in the audit trail.
Lateness and overtime are calculated from the original punch time, even when a kiosk or phone was offline and synced later.
