Slack and Microsoft Teams
Send arrival alerts and approval requests to hosts in Slack or Microsoft Teams, and post arrivals to a channel.
This is designed and scheduled but not built yet. We document it now so you can plan your integration.
If your team lives in Slack or Microsoft Teams, Agoo can reach hosts there instead of, or before, SMS and WhatsApp. Hosts see who has arrived and approve them with a button, without opening another app.
Available on Growth, Pro and Enterprise.
What it does
| Feature | In Slack | In Microsoft Teams |
|---|---|---|
| Arrival alerts to the host | Direct message from the Agoo app | Chat message from the Agoo app |
| Approvals | Approve, Ask them to wait, Decline buttons | Same buttons, on an Adaptive Card |
| Deliveries | "A parcel from DHL is at reception for you" | Same |
| Channel posts (optional) | Arrivals at a site posted to a channel, such as #reception | Arrivals posted to a team channel |
Answers given in Slack or Teams work exactly like answers in the Workspace app: reception sees them at once, and the audit trail records who answered and through which app.
How it fits with other channels
Slack and Teams join Agoo's notification channels alongside push, SMS, WhatsApp and email. Each person chooses their preferred order in Profile → Notifications, within the rules your admins set. A typical order is:
- Slack or Teams
- Push notification to the Workspace app
- SMS or WhatsApp if neither is opened within a few minutes
SMS stays the fallback, so a host who isn't at their desk still hears about their visitor.
Set up Slack
Add the Agoo app to your workspace
An Agoo admin who can install apps in your Slack workspace opens Settings → Integrations → Slack and selects Add to Slack. Review the permissions Slack shows and select Allow.
The app asks to send messages, to see the email addresses of people in your workspace (to match them to their Agoo accounts), and to post in channels it's added to. It doesn't read your messages or channels.
Match people
Agoo matches Slack members to Agoo people by email address. The settings page lists anyone it couldn't match, so you can fix their email in Agoo.
Optional: post arrivals to a channel
Choose a site and a channel, such as Ridge HQ → #reception-ridge, and invite the Agoo app to that channel in Slack.
Set up Microsoft Teams
Approve the app in Teams
A Microsoft Teams administrator allows the Agoo app in the Teams admin center (Teams apps → Manage apps) and, if your organisation uses app setup policies, makes it available to the people who host visitors.
Connect it to Agoo
An Agoo admin opens Settings → Integrations → Microsoft Teams, selects Connect and signs in with a Microsoft 365 administrator account to grant consent for your organisation.
Match people and choose channels
Agoo matches Microsoft 365 users to Agoo people by email address. Optionally, choose a team and channel for each site's arrivals.
What's in a message
Messages include the visitor's name and company, the site and gate, and the time. They never include the visitor's phone number, ID details or photo, and watchlist alerts are never sent to Slack or Teams: they go only to your security team through Agoo.
Remember that channel posts are visible to everyone in the channel. Only post a site's arrivals to a channel whose members are allowed to see them.
Build your own instead
If you want messages the app doesn't send, such as a morning list of everyone expected, use webhooks and the API. The recipe on-site list in Slack shows a complete example.
